Yahrzeit Memorials

Honor Your Loved One’s Memory With Us
A yahrzeit marking the anniversary of the death of a loved one each year is a significant occasion. Yahrzeit observance begins at night on the Hebrew date of a loved one’s passing, as Judaism holds that a 24-hour cycle of a day begins at night. Traditionally, a 24-hour memorial candle is lit, and mourners recite Kaddish. Many people mark the passing of a loved one by learning Torah in their memory.
At the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center, we offer our community members the opportunity to perpetuate the memory of their loved ones by supporting Torah study in Jerusalem. With a one-time contribution of either $100 or $500, on the day of your beloved’s yahrzeit, all learning at the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center – in the Epstein/Geller/David Beit Midrash, Zucker Family Synagogue, and in-person and online programs – will be dedicated to your loved one each year. The name of your loved one will appear on the front page of our website on the day of their yahrzeit and/or on a plaque in our center depending on the option you choose. We will also recite your loved one’s name during Kaddish when minyans (prayer quorums) are in session.

How to Submit a Name
Please provide us with the Hebrew (if available) and English names of your loved one(s) as well as the date of their yahrzeit. If you do not know the Hebrew date of their yahrzeit, we will calculate the corresponding Hebrew date from the date you provide, and this will be used for our records.
The proper form for a Hebrew name is:
Hebrew name of loved one ben (son of) or bat (daughter of) Hebrew name of mother and Hebrew name of father
For example:
Yehuda ben Miriam and Yaakov
Be sure to provide your email address so that we can confirm your submission. May you be comforted among all of the mourners of Zion and Israel, and may your loved one be remembered for a blessing.
