Zamru Prayer Festival
International Zamru Prayer Festival • July 1-4, 2025
The Zamru Prayer Festival is an annual gathering of creativity, inspiration, and learning, designed for prayer leaders and facilitators of prayer spaces, music, creativity, and spirit. The festival explores the unique intersection of prayer, music, and creativity, bringing together musicians and spiritual community leaders from Israel and around the world.
We welcome participants from all backgrounds, those who have a connection to Jewish tradition and Israeli culture while also being curious and creative about contemporary expressions of prayer in rituals, ceremonies, and within the modern world.
The festival brings together dozens of prayer leaders for an intensive four-day experience, exploring rich content through a variety of masterclasses, study sessions, collaborative experimentation and creation, as well as performances by festival participants which will be open to the public, in the heart of Jerusalem. Additionally, as part of the festival, we offer a residency program focused on writing, composing, and producing original liturgically-based songs, which will be publicly released following the festival.

Recognizing the vital role of those dedicated to this work and its importance to the spiritual resilience of our society, we aspire to expand and strengthen the professional community of prayer leaders and facilitators in Israel and beyond, bringing the power of prayer and music to more people, communities, and spaces.

אני יוצא מהשבוע שהיינו יחד מודע לשברים בחברה הישראלית בתקופה הזו ובאותו זמן הודיה עמוקה על ההזדמנות המיוחדת להתחבר עם ימוזיקאים מדהימים ומובילי תפילה מעוררי השראה ולהרגיש שיש תקוה לעתיד של העולם היהודי עם אנשים שמנסים לבנות חיבור בין מסורת וחדשנות ולמצוא חיבור בין תרבויות שזו הסיבה של מה שאנחנו עושים.
פעם הייתי מאלה שמגלגלים עיניים – כשמשהו רוחני קורה הייתי אומר “זה יפהפה אבל לא בשבילי”. אני חושב שהשבוע שעברנו כאן יחד שינה אותי לחלוטין. המטרה של השבוע הזה הייתה לראות את היופי בכל רגע, בכל אדם ובמתנות שהוא או היא מביאים ואיך כל הדברים אלה באים יחד ליצור משהו שהוא הרבה יותר גדול ממה שכל אחד מאיתנו בנפרד. מבחינתי זה הנתיב לרוחניות.
עברנו כנס שלא חוויתי שום דבר כמוהו בחיים. הכנס הזה אסף אליו אנשים שכל אחד מהם הוא יהלום. כל אחד הביא את האור המיוחד שלו. הדבר הכי מיוחד עבורי היה לפגוש אנשים שמדברים את השפה שלי – שפה שמשלבת מוזיקאיות מקצועית ברמה הכי גבוהה עם הרוח שהיא הכוח המניע בעשייה המוזיקלית שלהם, שהעשייה האומנותית שלהם מתרחשת מתוך שליחות. זה לא “אני” אלא מה אני רוצה לגרום לאנשים אחרים להרגיש.
השבוע הזה היה אחד הדברים הכי אינטנסיבים שעברתי בשנים האחרונות ואחד הכי מיוחדים. אני לא זוכרת מתי לאחרונה או אם אי פעם בחיים שלי זכיתי להיות עם קבוצה מצד אחד כל כך מגוונת ועשירה ומצד שני פשוט מהדהדת את אותו תדר ומגבירה אותו בתוך הקבוצה. אנשים כל כך מוזיקליים וכל כך פתוחים וכל כך הרבה נשמה. זאת היתה ברכה להיות פה. זכות אדירה
קיבלתי כאן מתנה ממש מדהימה לחיים. הרגשתי שאני בתוך קפסולה עם אנשים מתוך עולם התוכן שלי. בערב שהובלנו יחד הרגשתי בפעם הראשונה בחיים שלי התאמה מושלמת בין ה’נותן’ ל’מקבל’. הובלנו את השירה והתפילה יחד עם קהל שהשתתף בשירה עצומה ובהתרגשות. זה היה אירוע מכונן בשבילי להבין איך ביצירה שלנו אנחנו צריכים מאד לדייק את הקהילה שאנחנו נמצאים בה ומה אנחנו מביאים.
היינו פה יחד ששה ימים, עם חבורה של אנשים מאד מוכשרים. כולם מוזיקאים מחוללי תפילה ברמה הכי גבוהה. החיבור נוצר מייד בזכות המוזיקה. כל פעם שמישהו התחיל לשיר משהו כולם הצטרפו בהמון קולות והרמוניות. נוצרו ביננו חיבורים ממש מתוקים. במסע האישי שלי התחברתי למקום, בחזרה למוביל התפילה שאני, שיש בי את המקום שיודע לאסוף ולהוביל, להביא מתנה שעוזרת לאנשים להתחבר ללב.
היה לנו חלום לקבץ יחד מובילי תפילה מצפון אמריקה ומישראל שיהיו מעורבים בתהליכים של שיח ותרגולי תפילה שונים באופן פורמלי ובלתי פורמלי, להיות בלימוד משותף, ללמוד זה מזו ואז להתאסף בקבוצות יצירה קטנות ולהביא משהו חדש לגמרי. כל דקה מהזמן המשותף שלנו הייתה בלתי נשכחת ותישאר איתי למשך כל ימי חיי.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the festival open to overseas participants?
Yes – we welcome overseas participants. The majority of the participants will be Israelis, but we are delighted to reserve a limited number of places for overseas participants.
Do I need to speak Hebrew to attend the festival?
Sessions will be held in Hebrew with some English. We recommend that participants have a basic level of Hebrew and will ensure that English-friendly sessions will be made available throughout the festival.
Do I need to be a professional musician to participate?
We invite people-of-prayer who also identify as musicians and performing artists to join us. Participants are expected to have abilities and experience in musical prayer leadership abilities, but do not need to be professional musicians. The “residency track” comprised of a select group of participant is designed exclusively for professional/high level musicians.
How much does it cost and what does it include?
The participation fee for overseas participants, which is subsidized by our generous donors and sponsors, is $475.
This fee includes full participation in the festival, 3 nights of accommodation (double occupancy), and 3 meals per day.
How does the registration process work?
Once you have provided us with your details, we will get back to you for further information. Both Israeli and overseas applicants must be approved by the Zamru team to complete the full registration process.
What is the schedule?
The festival is slate to begin on Tuesday, July 1 at 10am. It will end on Friday, July 4 at 12:00 noon. The residency track for select participants will end of July 4 at 4:00pm. A detailed schedule will be published soon.
