College Break Intensives

The Conservative Yeshiva offers college-age students a chance to experience yeshiva life in Jerusalem first-hand via a subsidized two-week program of immersive Torah study. Build your own schedule to include dynamic Jewish text study, inspiring ritual life, and eye-opening tours of Jerusalem and its environs, alongside a cohort of diverse, like-minded peers.

An alternative college break at the CY is right for:

  • Those looking to connect more deeply to Judaism and be more empowered Jews.
  • Those seeking to connect with peers who are passionate about Torah and Jewish practice and who share a commitment to openness, egalitarianism, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Those who want to infuse Jewish life on their campuses with more spirit and authentic, sophisticated content.

Participants will live in the heart of Jerusalem, with all it has to offer. Read about student life here.

Ta’amu Winter Break Intensive

Ta’amu 2021:  Due to the present uncertainty of how COVID-19 will impact international travel to Israel for short-term trips, we will not be running the college winter break program in Israel in 2021.  However, we hope to be able to host a similar program in the late spring/early summer of 2022.  So please stay in touch! For more information: israel@uscj.org.

Ta’amu is for college-age North Americans. Preference will be given to Juniors and Seniors.

Participants are selected in order to create a diverse cohort that contains both those who seek Jewish text study wherever they can find it and those for whom the experience will be completely new.

Thanks to the generous support of multiple partners, Ta’amu participants pay a single, highly subsidized fee ($500 for the 2018-19 program) that covers: housing, tuition, some meals, trips, one Shabbaton, and limited airfare*.

Participants are responsible for covering remaining costs, including but not limited to:  the cost of meals not included in programming and personal expenses.

*Reimbursement rates differ depending on the origin of the flight.

All students are required to come to Israel with active medical insurance plans based in their home country that cover international travel. In addition, the CY will arrange short-term limited Israel-based coverage. Please see the COVID-19 FAQs page for important updates and information.
