Advanced Halakhah

Grapple with the Talmud & its Commentaries
This online Zoom class with global reach is a combination of critical talmudic study and analysis of traditional commentaries. Close attention is always paid to the dynamic development of halakhah. The aim is for students to understand the dynamics of talmudic interpretation and halakhic developments so that our texts and practices can be better integrated into our lives.
The Seder from its Origins to Today
This semester we examine the development of the Seder from its origins as a rabbinic style Greco-Roman symposium, through its development in the Talmudim, medieval literature, codification all the way through how the seder is observed today. This is a unique opportunity to combine both talmudic research and halakhic development all in one shiur.
